A new Honk Records music project is underway. It's working title is 'Stone'

A collective of musicians led by Will Lawton and Neil Muttock is being formed to perform old and new material live. After spending years recording, Will and Neil are now concentrating on performing their music live and have collaborated with Beth Porter (cello) and Nikki Capp (vocals).

For now, they will be performing under the working title of 'Stone' and their live performances will incorporate the acoustic elements of 'Ember' plus new material, yet to be recorded. The object in the picture on the left is of a 'Hang'...a new instrument from Switzerland that is slowly being introduced to their repertoire.

Brontosaurus support the 'Save Our Valley' campaign

Pylons was originally recorded in 2004 in a Wiltshire barn. It was an expression of discontent with the pylons that stretch across the Bybrook Valley in Wiltshire. When Brontosaurus heard of the 'Save Our Valley' campaign, south of Bristol, we thought that the action group would benefit from using our song to promote their cause...so we sent it to them to use as they wish....and they did.

On 2nd January 2010, we joined the group on a protest walk through the proposed Pylon route in North Somerset and performed the song for campaigners at the end. Footage of this can be found by clicking on the following link:

...and their you have it. Brontosaurus break into the protest song market.

Orangutan bend the brand

Releasing 'ember' as a limited edition in a hand crafted wooden box was never going to be that straight forward - especially with a branded triskele symbol on the front cover.

The method of branding is similar to how one would brand a cow, ie. place brand in burning hot fire and then stamp on object.

Well, after finally getting the copper brand made by the silversmith, Olivia Lowe, Orangutan managed to bend it after only stamping 8 of the 150 boxes. So, until the brand is fixed, the release is on hold. Damn.

Feel free to order it now though - the brand is being fixed and CDs should be ready at least a week before Christmas.

Orangutan leave the studio

Three years of recording has finished on the Orangutan album as they have nailed the 13 tracks which will form their new album. During the last recording session, Bath-based Bethany Porter added some extremely effective cello and vocals on ‘Transmogrification’ and ‘Sooner’.

The album will now be heading to Hilton Grove in London for mastering while the band work on artwork and packaging. The aim is to release the music by the end of 2008.

"The Monkey and the Whale" - Brontosaurus' debut album, is finally released.

The Brontosaurus boys are partying in their home town of Severn Beach tonight as the egg they have been nuturing at the caravan park for almost a decade, has finally hatched.

However, what started out as an innocent launch party for their new album turned into a near catastrophe as the coastguard had to be called out at 1am to rescue Connor from the mud flats. Clutching a bottle of champagne and with a pair of frilly knickers hanging from his wrist, he was caught out by the tide during a late night chat with the Second Severn Crossing .

Honk Records support epic journey

In April 2002, Muscular Dystrophy sufferer Michael McGrath made an unbelievable journey and conquered the North Pole in aid of this progressive, muscle wasting disease. In December 2003, McGrath departed from the UK with his team to Antarctica and the South Pole.

McGrath made history on 13th January 2004 by becoming the only disabled person in the world to have reached both North and South Poles. Honk wrote a song for him and his pole2pole project to use to help with the publicity throughout his extraordinary journey. We fully support him, all those involved in this epic project and the important work of The Muscle Help Foundation. To learn more visit www.musclehelp.com
