The Zennor Project

In 2001, South African, Peter Van Pletzen stumbled across Zennor in Cornwall and stunned the village with his African Fire Dancing and Djembe Drumming. He was immediately offered work on the local farm and residence in a pig shed.

A few months later he was joined by friends Tracy Jane Sullivan (vocals), Neil Muttock (guitar) and Will Lawton (keyboards). Each band member quit their jobs and former life style and moved down to Cornwall to concentrate on the band. They rented a flat in Marazion and continued to rehearse in the pig shed in Zennor.

Each band member quit their jobs and former life style and moved down to Cornwall to concentrate on the band. They rented a flat in Marazion and continued to rehearse in the pig shed in Zennor.

They soon recruited the Sennen legend, Ashley Moffatt on drums and bass guitarist Tim Jones and enjoyed a bizarre existence performing to huge crowds in St Ives, the Acorn Theatre, on a rock in the middle of the sea in Marazion and headlining the Isles of Scilly music festival at Camel Rock.

The band captured some of their material on the EP ‘Twist’ which was recorded in the VIP lounge in Penzance by Dare Mason. Matt Pharoah joined them in the studio with some sublime conga playing. The unsustainable bubble then burst and the band members all headed off in their separate ways.

Tragically, Ash was killed in 2004 and will be forever remembered and respected as one of Planet Earth's good souls.
