Brontosaurus

It was 1996 when Crawford Baxter, Buck Saunders and Conner Hammel first stumbled across each other in a dental surgery in Weston Super Mare.

Although Crawford and Buck were just embarking on corrective surgery for ‘crowded teeth’, Conner was months down the line and could offer light at the end of the tunnel. They soon discovered that they shared the same musical tastes and began rubbing bees wax on their bellies.

Although the three founder members still operate at the helm of the ship, a cacophony of characters have passed through the Brontosaurus turnstiles.

Many of these musical characters have found their way onto the stunning new album, ‘The Monkey And The Whale’. If you think you already have an album like this in your music collection, you are definitely wrong.
Orangutan

The hub of this band met at school and college and comprise of Will Lawton (piano and vocals), Neil Muttock (guitar) and Joe Holweger (bass and drums).

The ‘Surprised Coconut’ bedroom-made EP was produced in 2000 and kick-started the band’s existence. The majority of material comes from acoustic roots and is generally performed in this style.

The band have learned that patience is a virtue and in late 2004, Orangutan entered the studio (www.alphaproductions.co.uk) to begin recording their long awaited album after three years of song writing. The album is being recorded in the Mendip Hills in Somerset and is promised to have a very ‘live’ feel. It will be available to buy through Honk Records in 2007.

The Zennor Project

In 2002, South African, Peter Van Pletzen stumbled across Zennor in Cornwall and stunned the village with his African Fire Dancing and Djembe Drumming.

He was immediately offered work on the farm and residence in a pig shed. A few months later he was joined by friends Tracy Jane Sullivan (vocals), Neil Muttock (guitar) and Will Lawton (keyboards).

They soon recruited the Sennen legend, Ashley Moffatt on drums and bass guitarist Tim Jones and enjoyed a bizarre existence performing to huge crowds in St Ives, on a rock in the middle of the sea in Marazion and headlined the Isles of Scilly music festival at Camel Rock.

The band produced the EP ‘Twist’ before heading their separate ways. Tragically Ash was killed in 2004 and will be forever remembered and respected as one of Planet Earth's good souls.

December 2006

After 10 years in the making, the Brontosaurus egg has finally hatched.
